Clubs A variety of extra-curricular activities are offered to complement the academic curriculum including band, chorus, hand bell choir, Student Council, Light of Hope Service Group, Chess Club, Stock Market Game, National Junior Honor Society, yearbook, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Student Council The SJRCS Student Council’s purpose is to discuss ideas and problems relating to the student body, to encourage high standards of academic achievement among the student body, to assist the administration and faculty whenever possible, and to develop organizational, leadership and citizenship skills among students.
Band Students wishing to explore and develop their musical abilities and talents have a wonderful outlet to do so in the St. John Regional Catholic School Band. The SJRCS Band has been in existence for nearly thirty years. The band performs at many school and Archdiocesan functions throughout the year. There are also events outside of the school in which the band participates. Students may begin taking lessons during the school day, once a week, when they are in the fourth grade.
Chorus & Hand Bell Choir The SJRCS Chorus and Hand Bell Choir are open to all students in grades 4-8. The ensembles are under the direction of music teacher, Mrs. Peggy Frazier and meet once a week after school to prepare music for Masses and other school related events. Students perform a variety of repertoire including both traditional and contemporary hymns. In addition to singing, students also increase their knowledge of music theory.
National Jr. Honor Society National Junior Honor Society members are chosen for and then expected to continue their exemplary contributions to the school and community. The National Junior Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for middle level students. Chapters exist in more than 60 percent of the nation’s middle level schools and, since 1929, millions of students have been selected for membership. NJHS is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, which also sponsors the National Honor Society. Members are selected for their academic and leadership abilities and are invited to apply at the end of their 7th grade year.
