Archdiocesan Approved Technology Plan
MISSION
St. John Regional Catholic School is committed to preparing students to develop proficiency in technology skills, and be literate and responsible citizens in a technological society. Our mission is to enhance education, nurture Catholic faith, engage students in quality learning experiences, and empower students to become thoughtful contributing citizens in a changing world.
VISION
These statements represent the vision of the faculty, staff, administration and parents who make up the technology planning committee:

Utilize technology to enhance the educational experience throughout the St. John Regional Catholic School community (SJRCS).

Provide Professional Development to assist faculty and staff member in utilizing technology to enhance learning and improve efficiency to perform administrative tasks.

One-to-One computing program will allow our student to learn in a technology-rich instructional environment to become effective users and communicators of information in order to function as a productive citizen in the 21st century.

A standard operating environment for users will be provided. Maintenance of hardware, software and network systems, as well as future upgrades and replacement, to be supported by the annual operating budget.

Evaluate progress toward achieving goals on a regular basis.
OBJECTIVES and GOALS
1 Utilize technology to enhance the educational experience throughout the St. John Regional Catholic School community (SJRCS).

Students will learn basic computer skills regarding hardware, networking, coding, Internet research, and software applications.

Students will use a variety of technology tools to communicate learning outcomes.

Students will learn safe and ethical use of technology through direct instruction and understanding of the school Acceptable Use Policy. Content filtering and other security measures will be provided in order to support the Acceptable Use Policy.

Students participate in Cybersmart web safety program for grades K-8.

The school will maintain a website with educational resources and general information to improve communication with the entire school.

The school will use PowerSchool, the Archdiocesan-wide online Student Information System, with an electronic gradebook program to improve communication with parents and enhance reporting of student progress.

Teachers and students are provided with access to technology:
-
Interactive Whiteboards and LCD projectors in all classrooms grades PreK-8.
-
Portable iPad Tech Tubs available one per class for grades K-4.
-
Portable iPad carts available for grades PreK-8 for curriculum enrichment in the classrooms.
-
One-to-One Chromebooks program for Grades 7 and 8.
-
Two dedicated iPad carts for Grade 5 and 6 for instructional use in the classroom.
-
Telephone in each classroom with voicemail access for each teacher.
-
Network/Internet access in every classroom and administrative offices and maintain the Internet filter subscription.

Students will receive classroom instruction on basic operating systems via computer lab and technology instructor

Integration of technology skills in the classroom and homework assignments.

Technical support provided by the technology coordinator, computer teacher, and contracted network technician.
2. Provide Professional Development to assist faculty and staff member in utilizing technology to enhance learning and improve efficiency to perform administrative tasks.

Conduct annual in-service training focusing on assisting all staff and faculty members to be proficient and productive using technology resources.

Conduct on-going staff training sessions on the use of new hardware and software as needed.

Provide one-to-one technical support and technology integration planning with staff members as needed to implement AOB Technology Standards and meet curricular goals and objectives.

Provide technical assistance and training in the use of PowerSchool, the Archdiocesan-wide Student Information System and electronic gradebook program.

Provide training in the use of Rubicon Atlas

Create Online Tech help and Maintenance requests

Inform staff of off-site/online training courses available through AOB and the Maryland Department of Education.

Onsite technology support provided by the Technology Coordinator and Computer Teacher

Chromebooks accessible to every 7th and 8th grader throughout the course of their day.

Portable iPad crates located in each K-4 classroom.

Portable iPad carts available for grades PreK-8 for instructional/curriculum enrichment.

Program to link student work completed on a mobile device to home computer.

iPads and/or Chromebooks provided for all teachers.

Onsite technology support provided by the Technology Coordinator, Computer Teacher, and fellow teachers with iPads
4. A standard operating environment for users will be provided. Maintenance of hardware, software and network systems; as well as, future upgrades and replacements, to be supported by the annual operating budget.

Conduct a yearly inventory of hardware and peripherals.

Maintain an ongoing inventory of hardware, software, and program licenses.

Conduct regular maintenance and repair of existing equipment.

Assess the needs to replace outdated hardware and software on an annual basis.

Maintain standard operating system for all users with the following infrastructure: MS Windows 7; MS Office Professional 2013; MS Exchange Server and Spam Filtering; Antivirus software for email and internet; Smart Notebook

Technical support provided by the Technology Coordinator, Computer Teacher and contracted network technician - Jaguar Technologies (Contract service maintenance of servers, PCs and cyber security providers)

The operating budget will contain line items for the funding of hardware, software, consumables, and other technology related resources.

Additional means of funding will be sought through fund-raising programs and grant opportunities will be pursued.

Partnerships with local business for donations of equipment, time, and other resources will be investigated.

Internet filtering via contract ISP provider

Maintain secure website for Parent Portal located on the main school website.
5. Evaluate progress toward achieving goals on a regular basis.

Conduct technology-needs survey of software, hardware, and reference subscriptions of faculty and staff.

Maintain an ongoing inventory of software programs and licenses.

Identify teaching materials that need upgrading to current technology

Each year the SJRCS Technology Plan will be evaluated by the SJRCS Technology Committee. The Committee will ensure that SJRCS’ technology goals are being met and will make updates where needed.

Teachers will make technology goals as part of their professional development each year. The principal will evaluate the success of their goals in their teacher evaluation.

Student progress will be measured through the SJRCS Computer Teacher and their academic teachers. Administration will also measure student progress through outside observation.
